It is reported that in April 7th an American man sold "pizza.com" to an anonymous bidder at 2,600,000 US dollars(about 18,250,000 RMB).
The former owner of "pizza.com" is the 43-year old man Chris Clark. He applied " pizza.com"in 1994,while just paid 20 US dollars for it per year. He said that this domain name had been auctioned for one week in the internet before it was purchased.
Clark bought this domain name at 20 US dollars. Then he changed it into a pizza delivery directory. According to Clark, it has brought him a certain profit in the past few years.
Although Clark only paid little sum of money for "pizza.com" every year, he decided to sell it when he heard someone purchased the domain name "vodka.com" at 3,000,000 US dollars.
"I thought that why not have a try? If someone was willing to buy vodka.com at 3,000,000 US dollars, then it is possible that some people will be interested in 'pizza.com'", Clark said.
Clark was regretful that he haven't purchased more domain names in 1994.
He set about to auction "pizza.com" via internet in March 27th, with the first bid of 100 US dollars.
