| Administrator | I'm almost finished on the first of our domain tools, which is a TDNAM domain scraper. What this tool does is grabs domains as they are placed in to the TDNAM Firesale list, then calculates their age and displays them in order of age. The list can be filtered by extension, so if you only want .com's you can display that extension in order of oldest first, newest first or alphabetical. If you don't know what the TDNAM Firesale is, these domains can be purchased for a $5 fee plus 1 year registration cost.. So the total price of your domain will be just under $13 with a coupon from our Godaddy Coupon thread. As you can see from the screenshot, there's over 67,000 domains available at any given time for this price and thousands added every day. You can buy domains over 10 Years old for $13, and these domains keep their initial registration date... I've personally picked some up that were 15 Years old at this price. Also a lot of these domains can have Backlinks, Pagerank and Yahoo/DMOZ Directory listings as well as being quite old. As you know search engines can look at domains with these characteristics quite favorably, so they can be excellent for starting a new project as opposed to using a newly registered domain. I believe this tool will be very valuable to the members of iDomainSite, and the only requirement to use it is you must be a member of the site because access is granted through your forum user account. This tool is currently being Beta tested, and should be released to members in the next couple of days. However in the mean time, here is a screenshot of the tool. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. ![]()

| Junior Member | A shady tactic used by some less reputable registrars is domain tasting of searched domains. This is the practice of registering a searched domain that isn’t bought and holding it for up to 5 days to see if it is worth keeping. It is in fact a loophole in the domain buying rules that states that a buyer can return the domain if he changes his mind in less than 5 days. In the meantime, the shady registrar will demand a fee for the domain. The potential buyer thinks someone has bought their domain and that he needs to pay the fee. If this happens, just wait a few days while the domain tasting period ends and then check availability again. -------------------- christina http://www.***********.com |

It will take 5 days to fully populate the data and fill the database, that's how long the $5 Closeouts run for. At the moment it has 1,900 domains, so just give it some time to populate and become accurate. It's "almost" real time, the fetcher grabs new domains from TDNAM every 60 seconds and stores them in the database. Then 60 seconds after that, the Whois cron runs and fetches the registration dates and calculates the age and stores that in the database. The cleanup tool that removes all the closed auctions runs once per day. At the moment i just have links to other data like PR, DMOZ, Whois etc instead of displaying it right on the page because until the TDNAM data fully populates i want to avoid crunching a bunch of other data.
