iDomainSite is now running the latest blog system, v1.0.3

I'm going to wait until vBulletin 3.7.0 Gold is released before updating the forum software. I have downloaded v3.7.0 Beta's 2 & 3 over the last few days and tested them and they perform perfectly, however i believe the Beta will turn Gold very shortly.

So to save doing multiple upgrades, the upgrade of the board will be delayed until vBulletin make 3.7.0 Gold available for download.

Also vBSEO has made v3.1.0 available unencrypted, so i have upgraded to this version and i must say it performs better page load wise than the encrypted version i was using previously. I have also upgraded to the branding free option at the same time. I plan to do this with vBulletin in the future, but it's the dearer of the two at $120 per licence so it can wait until after the new year.

Great! I'm actually a fan of the vBulletin Blog myself, so I'll probably make good use of that. It is definitely best to wait until 3.7 becomes the latest stable version, however, if you did try to install the third beta here, I don't see it being much a of a problem. The gold version of 3.7 is not actually expected to come out soon, as they do not want to rush it.

The latest V1.0.3 is quite good, although I've been a little tied up due to the Xmas period so i haven't had a chance to fully explore it and do some blog posts yet. It does have a lot of bug fixes which was really needed, but all in all it's a very good product and i look forward to seeing how vBulletin "evolves" the Blog with future versions.

With the board, yes i'm starting to think why not and just go ahead and install 3.7 Beta 3 because i know with the test version I setup there wasn't any issues. My main reason for holding off was to prevent a double upgrade within a short time because it's always been my luck with VB.

Thanks for joining iDomainSite, i haven't done a whole lot with the site yet due to Xmas but I'll be kicking things off quite soon.

Considering it's New Years, and i trialled the 3.7.0 Beta 3 installation on a test board i decided to go ahead and upgrade.

So as clocks are still striking midnight, iDomainSite brings in the New Year with the installation of vBulletin 3.7.0 Beta 3

If you haven't seen the new 3.7.0 board, the main changes you will notice are with the User Profile's, Social Groups and Thread Tagging.

So have a look around and explore the features. The software is still in Beta version, so if you notice any bugs just post letting me know. However it appears this is a very solid release for a Beta, and i don't think much will need doing before it goes to a Stable Release.

Another upgrade, this time to the latest 3.7.0 Beta 4 for the board and Blog v1.0.4

I was it available for download the other day when i logged in, but i only just had the chance to download and install it.

I also compressed all the javascript files which has reduced page size and load times, as well as tweaked the cache system.

Before:

170,962 Bytes
14.4k 137.30 Seconds
56k 38.87 Seconds
T1 5.71 Seconds

After:

105,430 Bytes
14.4k 86.51 Seconds
56k 25.81 Seconds
T1 5.36 Seconds

So it's a noticeable improvement, especially for those still on slower connections.

A few days ago vBulletin released version 3.7.0 Beta 5 which is the last in the series of Beta releases before 3.7.0 goes final.

So i have just upgraded to the latest vBulletin 3.7.0 Beta 5 release to ensure the site remains up to date and bug free. The upgrade went without a hitch, however if you notice anything not acting correctly with the site feel free to post here and let me know.

Well they tricked me, there was a Beta 6 which i finally got around to installing however i found when i logged in there was the Release Candidate 1 available. So i've skipped a version and just upgraded to Release Candidate 1.

Everything appears bug free, thanks largely to the layouts 100% Valid code but if you find anything that's buggy just let me know and i'll fix it.

Today Jelsoft announced a security flaw in all vBulletin versions and released 3.7.0 RC4 to correct this.

So iDomainSite has just been upgraded to combat this security issue, and to keep the site fully secure.
