| Junior Member | Hi Guys, I recently sold some domain names over the weekend and MOST surely should've looked into this beforehand. But I didn't believe it would be this complicated? Does anyone know how to do 'internal transfers from one 1and1 user to another? I'm losing my mind and NOBODY at that company can apparently speak english. Any ideas that can help? (And yes, after this fiasco I'm switching registars.) I've posted in several forums because I REALLY need help quickly. |

| Staff | That's amazing, 1&1 don't have English speaking tech support. I see their ads in most USA computer magazines, you must have the wrong number.

I remember back when they first started up as a domain registrar, they were offering either insanely low prices or it may of been free .com's i don't quite recall but it sent some alarm bells ringing and i never jumped on the bandwagon. If you are going to change registrars (good move) take a look at the thread Best Domain Registrars. I don't like "recommending" registrars as such, but my personal favorites are NameCheap, Moniker (very secure) and Godaddy who has a solid history but their biggest downfall is their control panel and avoiding the excessive advertising. You can't do much there without being asked, how about 2 years registration, want some Whois guard, how about the .net/.org version... Fries and coke with that order?

Offering low prices should attract shoppers (rich or poor) to enter your new location. When a new store opens, the first thing you have to do is promote your store and location. Depending on you advertising budget and location, the shop need to do something to get attention. Some shop owners prefer to offer very low prices while others offer adds in news papers and mail fliers. Some new stores offer free food, low prices and send out ads in news papers with additional money saving coupons. Either way you need customers to get the word out. What happens after the grand opening is depending on the service and customer support. I offered Free Domain Names to the members on iDomainSite, since no one was interested, I took the ads off. Business is hard and very competitive unless you have a one of a kind item exclusively though your store. I think Go Daddy had a grand opening back when they first started up. It was so easy to get customers with insanely low prices (Go Daddy $7.50 -vs- Network Solutions $35.00) that they never quit...

| Administrator | This is true, although it wasn't just the free or insanely cheap domains that rang all the alarm bells.. It was a combination of their terms of service and how they went about the promotion that struck me as "Something doesn't seem right". More of a gut instinct to stay away, i had the same thing with RegisterFly.

| Junior Member | I have always had great service from them. Do you still need help transferring the domain name? I have sold a few myself and used the 1and1.com process several times recently. Let me know if you still require assistance and I'll be more than happy to help. Take Care DA |
